High School Team

 Yarmouth High School Nordic

Co-ed Nordic Skiing has been a prominent part of Yarmouth Maine high school and middle school winter athletic offerings for a half century.  Thousands of athletes have competed for the Yarmouth Nordic Team over that time. For many years, Nordic and Alpine were integrated in league and state competitions with athletes pursuing Skimeister competitions, which were a combination of alpine and nordic races and results.  Although the two disciplines have become more specialized and there are not any high school Skimeister races at the moment, the Yarmouth nordic and alpine teams, coaches, boosters, and parents continue to work together on and off the snow to benefit the Yarmouth Ski Team family.

Ski racing and training throughout Maine during the winter is a large amount of fun and with practices everyday, each athlete improves throughout the season. The high school team trains primarily at Pineland during the week, but also on school grounds and other local trails nearby. Races are held at venues across the state on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  The middle school team also races and trains at Pineland and on school grounds. School buses transport the teams to and from the ski trails.

Thanks to the support of the Yarmouth schools and the Yarmouth Ski Club boosters, there is not a participation fee, ticket fee, or race fee for athletes. Athletes must provide their own ski equipment, but will be provided with a race suit from the school.
