About
Yarmouth Middle School co-ed Alpine Ski Racing has a long history of deep community involvement and leadership. In 2022, the girls and boys teams won the CCC (Cumberland County Conference) Festival Championships. Today the program is led by Head Coach Ben Corriveau. Coach Corriveau took the helm as Head Coach in 2022 when coach Sean Lynch, the previous Head Coach, joined the high school staff. Many other coaches have been integral leaders of the program including Coaches Sean Marsh, Daniella Pinto, Bob Gross, Jack Gross, Jill Thomas and many more. Read more about the coaches here. The program has produced numerous winning seasons, many league championships and State Championships, details of these accomplishments are here. Many middle school team members go on to join the high school alpine team. As notable, the program has produced numerous friendships and life long Yarmouth Alpine Ski Team community members who are still coaching, volunteering, and supporting the racers and the teams of young men and women in Yarmouth today.
The Yarmouth Middle School Alpine Ski Racing Team participates in the CCC league. Yarmouth is one of the most successful Alpine ski racing programs in Maine.
The team is open to any enrolled student at Yarmouth Middle School who is a strong, parallel turning skier. The program is a learn to race program but it is not a learn to ski program. The team provides a racing speed suit, travel to and from the ski venues, lift tickets and race fees at the mountain but athletes must provide their own equipment (skis, boots, poles, helmet, goggles, gloves, ski pants, ski jacket, etc.)
The season begins after New Years and continues through the first week of March. Highlights include the traditional CCC League Championships at Shawnee Peak (racers are allowed to miss a day of school for this in March).
The coaches, racers, parents, friends, alumni, boosters, teachers, administrators and fans comprise a skiing community in Yarmouth that is unparalleled and is a wonderful family. We hope you can join us!
